Last Stop of “Mobile Mathematics Museum” was Ankara
The closing program of the “Mobile Mathematics Museum” was held in Ankara. The activity was launched two months ago by the Yunus Emre Institute within the framework of the Turkish Academic and Scientific Cooperation Project (TABIP) also launched by the Yunus Emre Institute under the auspices of the Presidency.
The Mobile Mathematics Museum began its journey in the Sarıçam Temporary Accommodation Center in Adana, which is considered the largest container city in the world, and it then moved on to other accommodation centers in Osmaniye, Hatay, Gaziantep, Kahramanmaraş, Şanlıurfa, Mardin, Adıyaman and Malatya bringing together more than 45 thousand children with science and mathematics.
The closing program was organized in the Durali Bezci Secondary School in the Yahyalar district of Ankara with the participation of the President of the Institute Prof. Dr. Şeref Ateş, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Ahmet Yesevi University and member of the Yunus Emre Institute Science Group Prof. Dr. Musa Yıldız, Middle East Technical University instructor and member of the Yunus Emre Institute Science Group Prof. Dr. Bilgi Demirköz, the Founding Representative of the Başak Education Institutions Alp Ayaydın, Singer Coşkun Sabah and many members of the press corps.
Youths Enjoys Meeting With Science
In his speech in the program, the President of the Institute Prof. Dr. Şeref Ateş pointed out that the Mobile Mathematics Museum was developed and introduced to the use of the youths taking into consideration its entertaining aspects rather than its complicated world. He added: “We brought science and mathematics to your feet, dear youths. I hope that you will distinguish between right and wrong, and good and evil by having science as your guide. We are here for you. Enjoy meeting with science.”
The President of the Institute Prof Dr. Ateş also stated that, in addition to promoting Turkish language and culture, they designed the TABIP project to demonstrate the level of scientific development in Turkey and how the youth adopted science as their guide, and that the project contributed to the promotion of Turkey’s scientific and technological accumulation. He said: “This program, realized within the framework of TABIP, first met with more than 45 thousand youths in the regions where Syrian refugees, or rather our guests as we see them, live in camps in Turkey. This project will then be taken abroad, its next stops being Hungary and Bosnia-Herzegovina.”
Mobile Mathematics Museum
Launched on 1 February 2018 to reach out to young and creative individuals and having visited 16 temporary accommodation centers, the Mobile Mathematics Museum contains 35 mathematics stations to help creative individuals test their new ideas and touch science.
The Mobile Mathematics Museum, which was set out to train new scientists and teach mathematics by integrating it into social life, offered an unforgettable experience to the children with its virtual reality and enhanced reality applications alongside its special formula stations.
Turkish Scientific and Academic Cooperation Project
Alongside its ongoing its activities to promote Turkey’s potential and capacity in the fields of science, technology and academics and to formulate interaction strategies, the Yunus Emre Institute has also been conducting a science diplomacy within the context of the Turkish Scientific and Academic Cooperation Project (TABIP) launched under the auspices of the Presidency of the Republic of Turkey.
Within the framework of TABIP, the Yunus Emre Institute is realizing many projects in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology, Ministry of Development, Ministry of National Education, Board of Higher Education, TUBITAK, Turkish Academy of Sciences (TUBA), Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB), Presidency of Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA), Statistical, Economic, Social Research and Training Center for Islamic Countries (SESRIC) and R&D centers.
