Mongolian students received certificates
Students visiting from Mongolia who participated in the Turkish instruction program organized by collaboration of YEE, TIKA and Abant İzzet Baysal University, received certificates.
"2017 Winter School Program" organized by collaboration of Yunus Emre Enstitüsü (YEE), Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) and Abant İzzet Baysal University, was held between 14-30 January.
18 students from Mongolia National University Department of Turcology received their certificates at Yunus Emre Enstitüsü after completing the intensive Turkish course at Abant İzzet Baysal University in Bolu.
The students who successfully completed the program, received their certificates from Yunus Emre Enstitüsü President Prof. Dr. Şeref Ateş, and Abant İzzet Baysal University Rector Dr. Hayri Coşkun.
"We do not simply represent our own cultures"
Speaking at the certificate ceremony, Yunus Emre Enstitüsü President Prof. Dr. Ateş reminded that the Turks have made Turkey their homeland for over a thousand years after migrating from Central Asia, and said, "They have internalized the cultures of this land, and served as a bridge between the East and the West. They have carried out the task of functioning as a bridge between Europe, Asia, and Africa."
Şeref Ateş said, "We have undertaken the task of developing especially intercultural understanding both with the cultures we have brought abroad and carried to other regions, and bringing positive achievements for humanity to various regions of the world. The number of Yunus Emre Enstitüsü centres has reached 50. At our centres abroad, we do not only represent our own cultures but also make efforts to further our acquaintance and friendship with the culture and people of the countries YEE centres are located in. This way we fulfil the humanitarian duty of carrying universal, cultural values to the whole world.”
Ateş stated that next to 50 Enstitü centres abroad, there are teachers affiliated with YEE in more than 80 universities, and spoke as follows: “This is a program carried out by the teachers we assigned to Mongolia, in cooperation with other institutions. This is a program realized by collaboration of Turkish institutions TİKA, Abant İzzet Baysal University, and Yunus Emre Enstitüsü.”
"Increased sensitivity between institutions in the aftermath of July 15th"
Emphasizing that especially after July 15th, Turkey has renewed confidence in its own values and own people, and there is a great sensitivity towards speaking the same language in institutions, Prof. Dr. Ateş continued as follows:
"Activities that previously required long correspondences are currently realized in a very short time through short exchanged messages. Normally, YEE Summer School is organized in summer. After July 15th, 540 foreign students from 45 countries visited Turkey, and returned to their countries after a month-long intensive Turkish course, cultural excursions, and Turkish Festival final. But this program was the first one held in winter hence the name Winter School. The first to benefit from the Winter School were you, young people from Mongolia who aspired to learn Turkish. Upon completing this intensive training at Abant İzzet Baysal University, today you are qualified to receive your certificates. I would like to take this opportunity to say welcome once more, and hope that when you return to your country, you will convey your impressions and your contact with Turkey will be lasting. I wish you will also maintain contact with Yunus Emre Enstitüsü. "
"After July 15th, we understood that very well"
Abant İzzet Baysal University Rector Prof. Dr. Hayri Coşkun stated that it is very important to promote Turkish culture and literature with the help of the state. Coşkun said, "Especially after July 15th, we understand this much better, and we would like to express our satisfaction today as those who exploited the promotion of Turkish language, literature, history and culture have been prevented in this way."
Rector Hayri Coşkun thanked Yunus Emre Enstitüsü and TİKA for their cooperation, and spoke as follows: "We had the opportunity to host our Mongolian brothers and sisters in our university at Bolu for 2 weeks who study in Turcology departments in Mongolia and travelled nearly 10 thousand kilometres to visit our country. We hope that all the activities and lessons you participated in throughout this period, have been useful for you. It has been a very rewarding and distinct program for us.”
Prof. Dr. Coşkun stated the following:
"It is much better understood today that it was the right decision to establish Yunus Emre Foundation as a state institution, founded with the aim of introducing Turkish language, literature, history, culture and art to our friends. An extraordinary service is offered. I also remember with gratitude the statesmen who agreed on and contributed in the establishment of the foundation. Introducing Turkish history and culture by the hand of state is of utmost importance. After July 15th, we realized that much better. This way, those who exploited Turkish language, culture, history and art were also prevented. I wish that the number of events organized by Yunus Emre Foundation will increase even more, and I believe that they will carry out much bigger projects as part of 2023 vision. We are on your side as universities. It is of course our duty to support such activities organized by you. As your partners, we are also ready to offer you the contributions in our power. I wish the young people who come from far far away, from Mongolia to visit us and get acquainted with us, will benefit from these certificates. "
Mongolian students trained in Bolu
The Mongolian students received training in Bolu for 15 days in order to improve their Turkish skills they learn in Turcology department in their country, by living it, and to get better acquainted with Turkey and Turkish culture. In addition to Turkish lessons, faculty members from Abant İzzet Baysal University Faculty of Education and Faculty of Science and Literature gave seminars to students. It was aimed for the students to improve their academic knowledge as well as their Turkish language skills, and they also got the opportunity to see the historical and geographical beauties in Bolu and its surroundings.
Turkish culture is now heard through a correct language
YEE that launched operations in 2009, has been supporting the Turcology departments and Turkish language instruction through collaborations established with educational institutions in different countries as well as offering Turkish instruction in Enstitü centres abroad. Turkish culture and arts are promoted correctly through a wide range of events in centres abroad, and Turkey is represented in national and international organizations.
