Zagreb Yunus Emre Enstitüsü Opens

Yunus Emre Enstitüsü that has opened 45 centres in 37 countries on 4 continents, is getting ready for the official opening of the centre in Zagreb capital of Croatia. Zagreb Yunus Emre Enstitüsü, launched its operations as of 2014, will be officially opened on April 27th with a ceremony to be honoured by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

Yunus Emre Enstitüsü aims to promote Turkey, Turkish language, history, culture and arts by opening centres in major cities of the world, and at the same time furthers cultural exchange and cements the friendships between countries.

Zagreb Yunus Emre Enstitüsü will offer Croat citizens quality Turkish instruction with activities to be organised as well as promoting Turkish language, culture and arts. Organising various workshops in Turkish history and literature fields, Enstitü will enable conveyance of best examples in countries' traditional and modern arts. Another major mission is to consolidate the cultural bridges between Turkey and Croatia.

The operations will be conducted in a historical building built in Austro-Hungarian architectural style in Lenuzzi Potkova district where education, culture and art institutions in Zagreb are located.

Goal is to have opened 100 centres around the world by 2023

Yunus Emre Enstitüsü launched its operations in 2009 and has opened 45 centres in 4 continents by its seventh year of operation. Yunus Emre Enstitüsü that teaches Turkish to thousands of people in numerous world capitals, aims to have opened 100 centres around the world in line with its 2023 Vision.

Enstitü opened its first centre in USA with a ceremony held on April 2nd 2016 as part of opening of “Diyanet Centre of America” and honoured by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

Photography Exhibition Specific to the Opening

Bosporus Photographs Exhibition from Constantinople to Istanbul from mid-19th Century to 20th Century

Exhibition to be opened specific to the opening ceremony of Zagreb Yunus Emre Enstitüsü, will open its doors to visitors as of April 27th. Curated by M. Sinan Genim, Bosporus Photographs Exhibition from Constantinople to Istanbul from mid-19th Century to 20th Century features photographs selected from Suna and İnan Kıraç Foundation Photography Collection by photography masters active in Istanbul as of mid-19th century, and reveals Istanbul of a period with its spectacular buildings, everyday life and exotic people.

The ties between Turkey and Croatia get stronger each day through joint operations carried out. This important exhibition was realised to reveal the relationships established from past to our day, and to remind and share these accumulations with younger generations.

The photography exhibition can be visited in Zagreb Yunus Emre Enstitüsü to be officially opened on April 27th with a ceremony to be honoured by Turkish President.

 

Zagreb also hosted Ottoman Tiles

Ottoman treasures that remained hidden in the depths of Adriatic Sea for centuries, were unearthed with contributions of Yunus Emre Enstitüsü. Archaeological artefacts discovered in a shipwreck from 16th century, were exhibited in Ottoman-İznik Ceramics from Depths of Adriatic for the first time in Mimara Museum in Croatia.

Yunus Emre Enstitüsü, Mimara Museum, Croatia Preservation Institute, Dubrovnik Museums and Archaeology Museum collaborated for Ottoman-İznik Ceramics from Depths of Adriatic exhibition held in Mimara Museum before Republic of Croatia Ministry of Culture and met with visitors between May 18th and September 13th 2015.
